Singapore Society Annual General Meeting 2011

Dear Members,

The SingSoc Executive Committee 10/11 is calling for its Annual General Meeting to be held on 4 Mar 2011 @ 7.30pm in room 58/1067 (Murray Building ground floor). This annual event serves to review the development of the society as well as to elect a new team to lead our society in the next term of office. Attendance is compulsory for all members.

Singsoc 2011 Chinese New Year London Trip + Dinner!

Dear Members!

Hope everyone has had a good winter break & are coping well with exams/work! Hang in there, ‘cause we’ve got something for all of you to look forward to!

Since Chinese New Year’s just around the corner, we’ve decided to head up to London on 29th Jan 2011 (Saturday) for some festive cheer, shopping & a really yummy CNY dinner!

The details for the trip are as follows:

Itinerary
0830: Pick-up @ Highfield Interchange (Please be early as we will not wait for you!)
1030: Arrival in London Chinatown (Leicester Square).
1030 - 1800: Free & Easy / CNY Carnival 2011 (see below)
1800 - 2030: Dinner @ New Fook Lam Moon Restaurant (Gerrard St in Chinatown; see below for full menu)
2200: Pick-up @ London Chinatown → Back to Soton! (Again, please be early!)
0000: Arrival Back @ Highfield Interchange.

Costs
Coach (return journey): £13 (Members), £16 (Non-Members)
CNY Dinner: £20 (Members), £22 (Non-Members)

*Please also make sure you have enough cash for your own expenses (Lunch + Shopping)
*There won’t be much need for Tube/buses in London ‘cause Chinatown’s close enough to walk to Oxford St, Covent Garden, Piccadilly Circus, West End etc!

CNY Carnival 2011

Our fellow Singaporeans from the London universities have organized a massive CNY carnival, which takes place that very day from 1100 – 1500 at University College London, North and South Cloisters, Gower Street, WC1E 6BT. Apart from lots of stalls selling traditional delights (including familiar flavours from home), other festivities include yusheng, an orchestra performance and even a lucky draw with prizes to be won! So don’t miss this opportunity to meet up with your friends from London, as well as those who are travelling from the other parts of UK, and spread the festive cheer.
